Beach Whales picnic @ Rawai Beach

 

I lurve picnics....every country I go to, I'll try to hold a picnic.
*read bout our picnic by the river in Bordeaux, France*
*or our romantic picnic in Bali*

and in Phuket with such beautiful settings. The sun, the sea, the breeze the coconuts...and ALL THE FOOD!!!! how could one not have picnics?????

really really cold sweet fragrant coconut drink. From where we sat, it's so close to the beach, we could just jump into the sea anytime we want. Hahahahaha.

Rawai Beach is situated on the southern tip of Phuket island, so the journey was about 30 minutes from where we were...Secluded and tucked away from the touristy spots, this one is really a gem. U hardly see any tourists, unless those white tourists who are hanging out here with their Thai galfriends.

I must say it's quite a beautiful setting here, minus our laughters, chitters chatters voice box...we roared louder than those long tail boats chucking away to nearby island.

Soon, food was pouring in, plates after plates. Didn't know we ordered so many dishes coz everything oso they wanna eat

the menu here is simple, thankfully they have english but no pictures so u just gotta trust your choice. Anyway I must say everything on the menu is awesome so just feel free to order and taste.

Simple stir fried crunchy morning glory with garlic and bean sauce, the steamed rice was fluffy and generous.

crispy fried cat fish with mango salad and lots of roasted cashew nuts. Phuket produce lots of cashews. There's so many factories nearby.

my favourite was this plump juicy fat clams, stir fried in basil and chilis. I've requested for less spicy for my dearie friends. Otherwise I'll go all out with lotsa "nam prik"....

Deep fried squid was loaded with even more cholesterol.
BAHAHAHAHAHA oh well when u are in holiday please dun stress urself. Everything in moderation should be fine.

see she's enjoying her crab!!! wat cholesterol??? Our 2x tables were laden with plates and plates of food. Our dearie driver who sat nearby taking care of our "safety" looked at us in aghast!!!! 4 Tiny Gals can eat so much???????? Where did they come from???? Or they just got outta jail? Or trust me, we ate like we just got outta jail.


Steamed cockles with basil leaves and spicy dip.
The cockles here were not bloody and very fresh I must say. Took everyone by surprised. This was one specially ordered for Sally Betty.

Green Papaya Salad with RAW blue swimmer crabs.

Initially none of them dare to touch this bcoz the crab was raw...soon everyone dig in except Beautiful CS. Then the crabs were gone leaving the lone ranger green papayas on the plate. The meat was so fresh and juicy and super sweet.

Beautiful CS said she chickened out from the raw crab. From this trip, I've learnt this woman isn't as strong as she seemed...nyek nyek nyek now I know all ur weak points babe!!! She's as innocent as a lamb :))))))))))

When things get too spicy, just nom nom chomp chomp on the raw long beans, cabbage, cucumber and leaves. It's quite sweet and isn't as green as it looked.?

Sexay Back: "Eh let's feed it."

and this dog has got such discerning taste, it rejected a lot of food...until....

until they fed the dog with grilled mackerel. Hey u are a dog not a cat!! how come u like fish so much??? No wonder ur fur is so clean and beautiful. Fish is loaded with omegal oil...hahahahaha



Since we just got outta jail, we needed more food. Beautiful CS ran to the road side and bought some banana pancakes. We complained at first but in the end, whacked and polished everything off.

and so post-lunch = ciggie time...
relaxing and having more coconut drinks. If only there's some nice pillows we would have retired on the sitting mat. Hahahaha.

Soon our driver took a nice coastal road drive and sent these 4 outta jail beach-whales for massage. I don't know how we did this everyday, but it wasn't that difficult. hahahaha. Eat massage partay sleep, eat massage partay sleep......bliss~~~~

Phuket Getaway Trip :))

Fluffy Fat Thai rice, topped with red rice and finally some barley on top. So hearty :))))

The moment we touched down at 9.40am we did a lot on Day 1. Had a Formula One taxi ride to our resort, speedy check-in thanks to the loyalty membership card...oh well these days not many hotels let u check in the morning. We dashed to fill our tummy for lunch. But Beautiful CS's eyes were darting left and right at all the beachwear and dresses sold along the way. Oh yes woman, don't worry...shopping would be in the itinerary.

The ingredients for hotpot came like a hi-tea set. There's loads of greens here. The fresh prawns were all on skewers, we oso ordered some foreign looking fish paste, shrimp paste....plus thinly sliced Kurobuta pork *which I forgot to snap pic*

Sexay Back Maggie is a mushroom person...so this platter not only satisfied her cravings but proved too much for the 3 of us. There's like 7 different types of mushrooms here!!!!!

my favourite was the shrimp paste stuffed in bamboo pith...very juicy and good texture
:))))) also the fish paste which came fresh and u can shape them any way u want before dropping it into the hotpot.

and so we ate for 2.5 hours here :P

the bomb was this plate of Crispy Roast Porkie which was double fried for that extra crunchiness. Though served with a sweet and spicy sauce...this is good enuff to be eaten on its own.

When it landed on our table....both of them were complaining the portion was too huge...Oh well they spoke too soon bcoz 3 gals just whacked everything from the hotpot, plus a huge plate of kurobuta sliced pork and this double fried crispy roast pork.

Anyway all of us are known as the "Kawaii" gang when we roam at nite...coz we looked japanese/korean. Prollie my galfriends are but I still looked like a Monkey. A Thai Monkey coz everyone spoke Thai to me here.

This pic was taken after our blissful massage....I was so ready to go back to sleep b4 we congregated at this popular bar for drinks. It was pretty happening despite being only 4pm.

Later after filling our stomachs with food, shitload of beer and really good and cheap massage...we headed to the beach to watch sunset but oh my the sky was so overcast.

yeah and they said Monkey can eat so much without gaining weight
while Sexay Back can be as laid back and LOUD as she could and still looking sexay alwiz.

oh well that's pretty much life and it's alwiz UNFAIR.
So be thankful of what u have, don't wish for too many things that u may want to possess, because it will never be enuff. So the 3 of us were pretty much thankful for our years of friendship, laughter, bitching about, tears and sadness and also challenges in life. More like shitload of drama in our lives.

Slowly we headed back to our resort and wait for the 4th person to join us that evening. This editor-in-chief was so bz, or perpetually busy...she had to catch the later flight to join us.

Nee Lee's Belated Birthday celebration

It was really a belated celebration as Monkey was away and no birthday is complete without all of us right? We needed a forum to do this...hahahahahahahaha.

As we aged/grow, time spent together is just so precious and rare. No longer as care-free as we used to back in University. When the only thing we complained about was too much of assignments to be done, the lecturer isn't good looking enuff to entice us to attend lectures or that international Professor is just so so dead boring.....

I've lost count on the number of Professors who gave up on me...instead I gave myself up and dropped out of the class. It was Stochastic Process...chosen by ME...who registered for the class willingly as an extra subjects to fill my time. Instead of filling my time, it filled too much of my brains...i hated it...but because most of the stock market and exchange rates fluctuations are all modeled based on Stochastic Process, I just "felt" like taking it......choi!!! should have taken Tennis or French lesson to "fill" my time. Yea I was that kiasu then...didn't wanna learn anything "recreational" instead everything was so statistic, numbers crunching, formulas-driven, finite infinite dimensional distribution bla bla bla *yawn*

If today I knew that my passion is in PR and Marketing, I should have enrolled and majored innit and have more time chasing boys instead of chasing numbers. Hahahahaha.

Heart-warming, stomach filling and tasty Fish Broth with a lot of fish paste.

This was at Yip Yan Restaurant, famous for its raw fish.
So the platter came like HotPot-style with raw sliced fish, fish paste, fish balls, loads of fresh vegetables, mushrooms, soft white toufu. Later the waiter brought out a claypot of really really hearty fish broth. Looking at its color, u knew it has been prepared many many hours in advance using fish bones and watever parts.

Sweet and Tasty just nice for a rainy day.
We had 3 refills of soups...hahahaha and I had way way way too many bowls. Because we almost had to be wheeled outta the restaurant after this.

Apart from this Fish Hotpot, this restaurant also serves other chinese dishes. We had a Crispy Oat Butter Prawns, minus the shells...this was really thoughtful coz I m too lazy to peel my shells. Maybe that's why I dun really eat crab. Unless they prepared it for us *like this one, read about it here*

Nee Lee making her many many many wishes

All of us were curious wat's on her mind.
To obtain her PHD with flying colors?
seriously I can't even remember wat's her PHD like...some engineering thingy to do with telco? She will sure whack me for forgetting it coz she's been telling us time over time wat she's been doin and preparing for her dissertation.

I don't even have a Masters Degree yet *when most of my friends do*...how do I even chase after a PHD. That's seriously a Permanent Head Damage.

Whatever wishes u are making Nee Lee, we hope you are blessed with Joy and happiness around you, good health and well-being alwiz :))) and yes to obtain ur PHD in wat-ever-major-it-was with flying colors. I m sure she majored in Engineering!!! kekekekekkee. I have a lot of destiny with many engineers. From Financial Engineers to Mechatronics engineers and my dearie JS who's an engineer himself :)) Now I would love to meet a FOOD Engineer...any readers out there?

Oh well we still looked the same as we were 15 years ago. YES!!! it's been that long!!! It wasn't that easy to live with some strangers back then but we survived hahahahaha. Well I must admit we do have some quirky habits and schedule, different upbringing and believes, different religions. At the end we were just a bunch of young gals trying to make it out there and excelled in our respective Majors among all the top students. Which we did :)))) I am glad we are still together :))))

Right after dinner, as though the soup and fish weren't enuff...despite being wheeled outta the restaurant. We decided that Durians for dessert is such a fantabulous idea.

Shell Shell knew precisely where to hunt down for some Musang King Durians. She's is still galavanting in Macao and Hong Kong. Have fun and come back safe.

Mee Mee was really eppy to be outta her home without her 2 boys. She's now back to her pre-birth body size. Which is a size 4 or less I think.

Later Roomies went for Durians 2nd round *smacks forehead*
goodness me. I'm not really a fan so....anyhow couldn't stuff anymore food into my huge tummy.

Great outing and looking fwd to our Xmas and New Year celebration :)
