Slow Food Society

The 1st time I heard about this was from a website, Alessi. It is actually a movement which promotes fine dining..good food and wine culture...

HOWEVER..

it opposes fast food and standardisation of taste...ermm..I still lurve my McDonald's...hehe :D

So back to my plot...while in Singapore last week, we were invited for dinner at Lawrence & Tracie's pad near Orchard. JS was the guest chef, all in all, 3 outstanding macho chefs sweating it out in the smoky kitchen. Tell me, how often do u get this???

The food were bottomless, never-ending with Lawrence whipping out course after course until my stomach can't store no more. The moment I stepped in, we had moscato and it was yummy, light and refreshin with very low alco content. ACTUALLY, we had moscato the previous nite in Moomba. Well that's another gastronomic adventure.....

The highlight of the nite got to be the wagyu beef JS bought from Culina. It was so succulent that I had so many slices. Terrence fr Culina pan seared it perfectly....yummy.

Lawrence sliced the wagyu as thinly as possible on a bed of truffle oil and spring onions.

TA-DA!!! OOooooOOO...topped with New Zealand's farm eggs and grilled for a few minutes....this is the dish to die for.

Other dishes were good....
we had.....

buttered herb escargot fetuccine,
spanish chili pasta alio olio,
sun-dried beef and seared figs with aragula rockets in balsamic,
blanched sweet peas,
Coffin Island oyster in ponzu sauce served with Thai jasmine rice,
baked do
ry stacked on top of pancentta with more chilies...
baked paprika potatoes and sweet corns...

and lotsa wines...i forgot how many i took....so we ate for a full solid 5 hours...isn't this slow food society in the heart of Singapore?

Having our antipasti
Koo Young and a Moscato

The other 2 star chefs...hehehe...

After the gastronomic dinner, I was so contented and had more wines...
and out they brought.......guess wat..

Towers Sauvignon Blanc....

got to be the best whites i ever had...
Dr Chook
found it by accident during his trip to Aust. By the way his 17 year-old son can drink better than me!!!

As usual, there's always room for dessert, so JS gave me some vanilla ice cream...it was very good and it's not available in KUL.
Waitrose ice cream....
madgascar vanilla...
simply fantastique.......
hmmm....

When midnite came, the three of us jumped into the city cab with very very heavy stomachs...hehehe...it was soooo heavy that we decided not to attend the champagne lunch with the gang the next day at Club Chinois. Man...i do need to keep up...

Early the next morning, we went to meet Terrence at Culina...and bought..
some fresh vanilla pods,
pastry cups,
70% top chocolate,
foei grais,
took home 2 btls of TOWERS.....WOOHOOOOO

Suddenly i felt like the luckiest gal around...hehehe...

So we took earlier flight instead of the 1740... managed to book ourselves into the 1340 flight....had dim sum @ crystal jade...it was OKAY....can't beat dim sums in Hong Kong...though there's sales at Changi...couldn't get anything that i like.

Came back....had chili capellini alio olio..yeap Lawrence passed us some..and I made a simple cherry tomatoes with celery salad....and a bottle of Ruffino...simple and yet splendid..
