Muar Home cooked food, Tengkat Tong Shin

Peakie D brought us to this yummy home cooked place last Sunday
we had quite a late dinner to skip the Ramadhan jam...yes Sunday inclusive
u have no idea how bad the traffic is in KL these days...
it's really the SPEED that kills...be it fast or SLOW
once u r stucked...u can almost watch the entire movie of "Cowboys & Aliens" in ur car

Muar Restaurant is tucked neatly at this row of colonial style terrace buildings
u can almost miss it coz it looked like someone's home
well definition of home cooked cuisine mar
hmmm can't decide wat to eat coz everything looks so yummy
well if we order too many things we won't have space for supper later
*we were scheming for Ngau Kee Beef Noodle and Wong Ah Wah Chicken Wings after dinner*
**but only one succeeded :P**
they are famous for Sambal Petai
Bitter Bean was so crunchy and this dish was super spicy yo!!!

Petai has got tonnes of medicinal properties
from constipation to depression to PMS to anaemia to high blood pressure to morning sickness to ulcers and the list goes....
Butter Kailan was so yummy
they added some curry leaves innit so the flavour was so appetizing
crispy crunchy and buttery
Crispy Fried Eggs!!!!
oh yumssss
how did they do it????
just drizzle with some dark thick soya sauce
I'm still thinking how they did it...
prollie they separated the yolk and the whites....beat the whites a bit
and add everything back into the wok again?
medley of squids and prawns with salted egg yolk
so sinful~~~~ but so yummy!!!!!
We really lurve this too!!!
Deep fried fish in Thai 3 style sauce
very very spicy yo!!!!!
RM 1.00 cendol!!!!
and it was darn good coz they used the original GULA MELAKA!!!!
oh yum I dun mind another bowl but then my beef noodle was calling MOoooooo to me :P

we'll definitely come back again for a simple meal here...
sometimes simplicity is the key!!!

Ngau Kee Beef Noodles, Tengkat Tong Shin

this was a prelude after our dinner....kekekekeke
the famous beef noodle stall that all of us used to frequent
hmmm usually after clubbing...kekekekekeke..
since I haven't really club for ages *signs of aging* so this place was kinda forgotten :P

when we were there by 10pm it was still quiet and empty coz the crowd has get to gather in
and nope were didn't go clubbing...hahahaha
lemme re-iterate it was after our dinner :D
this place hasn't really change that much
still the same owner same bowl same tables and chairs

this place is really rustic but fret no....coz lil black long tail friends aka RATS were nowhere to be seen
kekekekekeke
actually it is considered very very clean ady
innards of a cow
I only like tendons :P

every table has got this standard utensils
white pepper, soya sauce, homemade chili sauce, toothpick chopsticks spoons saucer
hmmm one thing missing tissue paper :P
and then the action begins......
crowds were pouring in
it alwiz seems like we brought in the crowd no matter where we dine
blanched the noodle....
immersed in I dunno cold/warm/hot water
flip it a few times to remove excess water
it was so fast!!!!
while waiting for the noodles to be prepared
we were served beef meatballs and beef paste balls
and the yummy al-dente noodles
with minced beef in sweet savoury black sauce

all for RM 5.50
where can u get noodles at this price in KL these days

the cost of living has escalated so much
purchasing power has dropped
sigh
I dunno........I can get a cup of cappucino in Singapore at SGD 4 and in Malaysia at RM 9
crazy yo!!!!
pls dun even mention at more "Atas" place it cost about RM 45 per cup....
*faints* gimme a lychee martini then

and last weekend Munchy told me based on latest analysis and results only 10% of Msians earn RM 100k per annum
only 10%??????
10%
do u know that RM 100k = SGD 40.8k = Euro 23.8k = USD 32.25k
-_-" wat kind if country is this?
okie back to the post I dowan to upset meself

and when the noodle came
the silence came too
everyone was busy digging in
oh super yum
Peakie D was so eppy coz she hasn't been to this place for quite some time ady
I was eppy to be able to indulge wif JS snarling at me :P
eh it's only one small bowl of noodles

the beef noodle soup is oso very nice with its beefy stock
well next time perhaps :)))
u can choose many different types of noodles
the meatballs was the most awesome of all

wanna come back again soon :)))

Meng Kee Char Siew @ Tengkat Tong Shin

Baby Wei was wailing in the office
that she's hungry
and worse she only wanna that special Tengkat Tong Shin char siew rice
-_-

Mommy Jacky was kind enuff to layan
and drove us out in the lunch heat + jam
wow it was so full when we were there at 12pm
Aunty with I wanna murder u look: "How many rice u want? 3 or 4?"
the 3 of us stared at each other and answered unisonly: "3 lor aunty"

the rice was cooked in chicken oil
super duper good.
then out came an indon maid taking drinks orders
at the same time vege orders...

"ada saang choi, ngah choi, choi sam"
lettuce, beans sprout, sawi.

It was delicious with crispy garlic on top with good soy sauce.
super smooth and tender chicken in thick soya sauce.

"Aunty I want upper thigh!!!!"
Aunty with I wanna murder u look: "Everyone also want upper thigh. Where got so many upper thigh to sell????"

:((( pouts........
mix mix lor. but no chicken breast ok.
sweet sticky char siew
very very good...

"Aunty dowan so fat one ar..."

yeah we are fussy customers,
no wonder Aunty has the "I wanna murder u look"
this place is smoky,
hot,
stuffy,

and after stuffing our face with a big plate of char siew
we came out smelling like one.
O_O

but it was definitely good one.
Price is definitely not cheap.
but worth every penny.
