Sunset at Patong Beach

Activities were never ending in Patong Beach
well being the busiest beach it will never end even after the Sun has gone down

somehow among the hustling bustling and happenings on the beach
we can alwiz find peace in doin things we enjoyed

for me...it would be reading...
Berr was just taggin along....the story was just too deep for him to understand and it aint no bedtime story

I was reading about the life of a Thai gal who is now my age
She sold her virginity at 13 for 30,000 baht = RM 3,000
without even understanding wat it was, just so she has got $$$ to send her brother and sisters to school
it was a really sad book :((((
I dunno if u can get this book out from Thailand or not but for more information pls visit

okie back to Patong Beach
while I was so immersed in the book...I didn't notice 2 dogs were frolicking so close by :P
every evening u see ppl bring all sorts of their best friend(s) in different size shapes and colors for a quick brisk walk and jog along this beach

while I found peace on my book, JS found his with his shutter
I dunno how far he walked...but sometimes he would come back to me with his pants drenched in sea water

"u went for a swim wif ur camera?"
JS: "nope I squat too low while capturing the waves...."
(-_-")

JS is the most efficient body energy consumer I've ever seen
He eats so lil and yet have so much to go around the whole day
*yea now u realised it's ME who ate everything in the pics u saw on every single meal*

as for Monkey, even when she's laying her bum bum on the soft sand using so lil calories....she still needs to munch
hmmm this was very yummy
sliced green mangoes served with pounded sugar with chilis
so it was sweet spicy and sour!!!

the Tide was low then.......
and the Sun...the Sky were reflected on the wet beach

soon all the traders peddlers and operators shut their jet skis, the motorboats and packed everything
and we see no more para-sail on the sky....
only birds
and the crashing sound of the waves

and Monkey with Berr of coz.....hehehehehehe
the Sun then fully sets by 6.30pm

finally he has got time to enjoy the sun set with me....hahahahha
coz he wanted to capture the beautiful moments for u readers :)))))

so u'll be able to SEE wat we SAW there
all the food we ate *which u can gawk at hehehehe*
all the adventure we've done
all the beautiful ppl we met
and life in Phuket

Thank you yea :)))))))
I can't wait to capture the next Sunset with u
:)))))))))))

Picnic at Rawai Beach

Thai Monks in saffron robe
I was curious looking at them

They can't be fishermen rite?
later JS explained that they are goin back to their temple located in one of those island there
There were so may islands in view fr where we sat....and I was trying hard to locate Phi Phi Island

The water was so clean and clear
it was a lazy Sunday afternoon and we took a 30 mins drive along the weastern coastal road to arrive at this beach - Rawai Beach at the southern east of Phuket
it was a scenic journey as our car was on top of the cliff driving through winding road with the sea down below

Mission: picnic lunch :P
yeah u know we won't take all the trouble if there's nothing for us?

JS has got sharp memory, he could still locate the exact vendor
and halted the drive to stop there

Ta-DA!!!!
everything is prepared for here....u just bring ur own huge stomachs and mouths :P
from umbrellas to floor mats, cold coconut drinks, amazing BBQ seafood of ur choice

and mother nature also provided the beautiful scenery
the wind and sun~~~~~~

There's NO TOURISTS here only locals
dunno why :P
I find it so splendid to have picnic this way
couldn't help it but my head was turned the other way all the time
hehehehehehe
must b enjoying the view hehehehehe

this view!!!!
and all the activities of boats coming back and those that were goin out

before long, Monkey asked the usual question...
where's my FOOD??? I'm hungry~~~~~

OK the ppl here dun speak a word of english but thank god the menu is in Thai and English
anyway u can alwiz go to their shop and choose which fresh produce u want them to BBQ
they even have BBQ pork
and HORSESHOE CRAB
I heard it is so poisonous that u will die on the spot but it's a delicacy here
Thanks but no THANKS!!!!!

we came all the way along the coast for this DISH
SOM TUM PHOO MA

yeah it is the papaya salad but this one was the most awesome one in Phuket
it has got papaya, mango, long beans, cherry tomatoes, dried shrimps, loads and loads of chilis
its taste is so yummy and balance...
despite the spiciness they managed to cool it down with palm sugar so it is also sweet
and equal amount of fish sauce to give it tat fishy saltiness

I was like fanning my lips as I ate this
HOT HOT SPICY!!! but SEDAP!!!!!

this dish is served with "ulam"
and I finished em all
the long beans were so sweet and crunchy on its own and they were RAW

but the highlight of this dish is CRABS
didn't u see crab inside????
FRESH RAW Blue Swimmer crab

they were still alive when we ordered it
it was chopped to bite sizes

its meat was SO SO SUPER SWEET and firm
just need to suck em outta its shell
very very good so this was the STAR DISH and we dun mind coming all the way for this :P

next was the famous fried Thai thin small kuey teow
here they eat the flat big ones and also the small ones
the small ones are dried kuey teow sold in packs
somehow they managed to retain that al dente-ness
*the chewy bite on the noodle*

Charcoal grilled really really fresh Saba fish
the fish was pretty oily on the inside *fish oil*....so it was so moist
as we were diggin in....spurts of fish oil came out.....hmmmmm yum yum
such a small fish has got so much of fish oil....no wonder Japanese lurve em!!!
so good no sauce were needed for this...

stir fried mixed vegetables
the seafood was so fresh it's a bit of indulgence to fry em this way
in other words...too goo to be stir fried like this

my other favourite was this Fried Clams with Thai Sweet Basil and Nam Prik sauce
u can buy cans of nam prik sauce in supermarket
but in Thailand they sold them fresh....with different condiments innit....
with lemongrass or dried shrimps or dried chilis or desiccated coconut etc etc

lookin at the meat of the clams, u can tell it's really really fresh
coz it's round and fat

nope these are not "otak-otak"
it's a type of dessert made from glutinous rice flour, sago, coconut milk, desiccated coconut and palm sugar
they still use the "lidi" made from coconut trees to poke and seal the ends
most places uses staple these days :P

wrapped in coconut leaves then Char-grilled till it's crispy on the outside
so it's sweet and fragrant with chewy crispy bits~~~~
super yum tat I ate so much

yes u eat em this way
yum yum yum!!!!!!!!

still bz eating...
we should have sat at a BIGGER table lar...
there weren't enuff space that we had to put a lot of things on the floor mat

great yummy kick ass food and beautiful scenery
swaying trees and the sea breeze....I wished there's a hammock here so I can ZZZzzzzziiiinkkkkkkk after I Burped :P

nice shot by JS!!!!
so while I was still BZ chomp-chomping he got himself bz with all the photography activities

after 1.5 hours and Berr zzzzz in his green pouch

JS: "So u happy??? satisfied??? u done????"

heheheheheh I mopped every plate clean and this wasn't the end coz I was still eating my dessert, my vege and my coconut!!!!! *the 2nd coconut for the meal*

yes tat lil shop there serves all these yummy food
with the man in red shirt under a huge umbrella BBQ food
there's also peddlers/vendors selling all sorts of desserts
from homemade ice creams to jelly, crepes, waffles etc
if only our stomachs could accommodate more :P

Nong-Pim Seafood
along Rawai Beach,
Phuket.

Price wise....very very affordable
our meal was RM 60

Baan Rim Pa Restaurant

Such a spectacular sunset
everyday without fail in Phuket, we'll catch the sunset together
plus the tripod and the camera
hahahahahahhaahhaha

wooooottt wooootttttttt the Tuk Tuk was fast huh?
my hair was blowing everywhere on my face I had to hold em in place

the Sun sets at about 6.25pm in Phuket
so in order to get the right spot for photography we need to be there early
sometimes as early as one hour to get the right white balance, angle, create a storyboard for the picture
hmmmm almost sounds like my usual photoshoot session for magazines

sometimes u need a nice foreground like this with rocks to create perspective and depth

basically u'll see one Man walking on the beach holding unto his gadgets
the gadgets were a huge ass camera and a tripod attached to it

and this man will walk up and down along the beach
with another tiny human being, in her lolly dress or swimwear taggin along
and if your eye sight is so good, u might even catch a lil elephant with them
:P
but most of the time the two tiny tots are lazy beings so they'll end up sitting on the beach or lying around...worse lay their bum bum on sharp rocks

this Man will then stop at every single spot around the beach
with curious onlookers and start snapping away
never have I seen such a passionate man in photography
well thanks to this Man we have all these beautiful pics to enjoy

After all the *almost* award winning pictures,
we headed to the Award Winning Restaurant - Baan Rim Pa
that sits on this huge cliff and rock at the end of Patong Beach

Baan Rim Pa is the No.1 restaurant in Phuket
and the top few in the whole of Thailand
having made it to the Miele Top 20 in Asia rating in 2008/2009
also numerous awards from Wine Spectator to recipient for Hospitality Asia Platinum Awards

hmmm their award is almost as long as the wine list heheheheh
yes they do serve wines here but think let's skip that for Thai food kay?

We booked early and specifically requested for this table by the cliff
that commands a spectator view
so do come early and watch the sun set :)))))

It was really really nice to sit perched on top of the cliff
with the view of Andaman Sea to urself
and palm trees next to u

The sunset from here is as beautiful as from the beach :))))
Baan Rim Pa serves Royal Thai Cuisine
so everything is really fine and meticulously prepared

hmmm I just noticed fr the pic, my nose and arms were the most tanned part of my body throughout the trip

Fried Pork with curry paste served with crunchy long beans
topped with really really thinly finely chopped Kaffir Lime Leaves
the pork was like roasted pork chopped to chunks and cooked in curry
They twisted the long beans into lil rounded number 8 as above

hahahahahah we had so much of morning glory leaves in Phuket
every single meal!!!!!

Steamed soft fluffy fragrant white Thai rice is served in this contained
which looked like a mangosteen I think
hehehehehe

U won't believe that the highlight of the dinner was this Kuey Teow Raadna
topped with seafood
the Kuey Teow was CRISPY
it was pre-fried until it was puffed up
then the gravy was added in

so when u bite into the kuey teow it has a crispy outer shell and a chewy silky noodle bits
really AWESOME!!!!!

Honey Chicken in pandanus leaves served with a special dipping sauce
this was rather a disappointment
I am still looking for the ultimate pandanus chicken in Thailand!!!!!

Duck with creamy curry and lychees
this dish was also really yummy
*yes JS ordered and ate this dish.....duck...quack quack*

there's still some space left for dessert
Tub Thim Kroob
it has got pieces of yellow Jack Fruits
and plenty of refreshing chestnuts wrapped in red jelly

after a yummy beautiful romantic dinner
we are Happy Boy and Happy Gal!!!!!

There was also a live pianist right at the back of us
forgot to snap pic :P

There's a lady who does carvings from fruits and vegetables all nite long
our 2nd experience here is so much better than the 1st one back in 2007

This place is definitely very expensive by Thai standard
it is like an additional zero at the back of your bill for the same kind of food
but I guess u r paying for the great service, Amazing View and fine Thai Food

yes u'll only see tourists at this restaurants,
no locals :P
