Hokkien Mee @ Kuchai Lama

This post is dedicated to Mr. Joo
for his lurve for street food.

This Hokkien mee place is a shack along Jln Kuchai Lama,
but the food aint no shabby at all.
the best way to enjoy sambal chili is...
top them up with more pickled chilis.

the saucer without extra chilis was for UCP,
he ain't no chili man like us.
as though there isn't enuff belacan,
we had a fried vege with belacan,
dunno wat's the name of this leafy yummy vege.
this is a hakka dish - Suan Pan Zhi
or we called it chinese gnoochis made from yam,
very good texture
I like it chewy.
UCP must have his rice and he ordered his fav fish head curry,
it was pipping hot and boiling in its super hot clay pot.
fried clam chinese style - kam heong
these are all only appetizers/starters.
this shack is famous for their fried seafood glass noddle - tung fan
notice the bitter gourd on its side?
totally awesome!!!!
but of coz we came only for this!!!!!!!

HOKKIEN MEE!!!!!!!

Last time they used charcoal to cook this baby,
now I didn't take note....dunno,
but it has the best "wok-hei" ever in any dish,
the noodle still retains its "chewiness" with sufficient gravy
and the occassional bite of sweet and & fresh seafood.

but u know me,
I was eye-ing for something else.
the crunchy pork lard on top,
it's never enuff....
heheheheheh

I don't have address of this shack...
but it's the best Hokkien Mee in the whole of KL.

this place is situated beside the Full Gospel Assembly along Jalan Kuchai Lama,
and er, I didn't get their tel number...sorry.

Do bring tonnes of tissues and pls pls pls pls
do not park right smack in front of its shack
or endure its consequence later on...
oil...pork lard...and more oil on the windscreen.
-_-

Highly recommended.
MUST GO.

btw, if you like hokkien mee, there's also another place along jln cheras (err.. or issit jln peel @ cheras) that serves good hokkien mee, fried with charcoal. it's right beside the petronas station. however, make sure u're there early, or have someone pre-order for u. else u gotta wait for at least 30 - 45 mins...
